Shading techniques

   Tips for shading.

Start light and gradually build up your shadows this will help avoid harsh lines and unnatural shadows.

Use a variety of pressure to create different shades. light pressure for lighter shadows, heavy pressure for darker shadows.

Pay close attention to the direction of your shading.  Follow the lay of the land.

Use blenders, brushes and erasers to smooth out texture and create highlights.
